Nutritional FactsVitamin C provides antioxidant activity, and is critical in the formation and maintenance of connective tissue. Vitamin C also supports proper functioning of the immune system.*

  1. Suzanne Marcy Says:

I continue to look for vitamin C chewables that do not have fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors-both are not good for the body. Is that a possibility?

  2. Larry Says:

    Hi Suzanne,

If you are asking if we offer vitamin-C chewables with those parameters, the answer is ‘no’ … sorry.

With all the GNLD products that are sweetened from natural sources, it has made me wonder why this one, and just a few others have “artificial flavors” added … and since it’s at the end of the ingredient list, meaning a minute amount, how much different could it taste without those added flavors? (rhetorical question)

But, regarding your point about corn, that’s a long story (one I do not know the beginning to) … it’s, I believe, US-government-backed support to the corn industry. Glucose can be made by one of many starches, but in the US, it’s virtually all made from corn.

High-fructose corn syrup, in its chemical breakdown, is about equal amounts of glucose and fructose. That’s chemistry, and I’m not a chemist. But I can read labels and the Web. Seeing them listed side-by-side makes it look as if they were equal amounts, but does that make them become high-fructose corn syrup? (another rhetorical question)

I wish I could answer questions as easily as I’ve asked them, but I am not a chemist, scientist, nutritionist, or paid spokesperson (levity … just a little) so I only have the same access to information that is available to the public.

To take a stab at your last question, “I don’t see why not.”

    Thank you,
    Lar
